Corby Glen school fair Choir in school

It was lovely that the Corby Glen Community Primary school invited Formally Ice (Irnham Community entertainment) now ECG (Events at Corby Glen) along so that we could promote shows in Corby Glen .
The Shows are to be held in the Village Hall / Ron Dawson memorial hall. The first one was on Saturday 7th December 2024.
As an incentive to get parents and grandparents alike to fill in a contact us form so that they could be updated on shows in 2025, we offered free entry into a draw for a Child's hamper.
The lucky parent was Jonathan Ayres of Swinstead.

Elton John evening Elton john evening december 2025

What can I say, even though it was a terrible evening, Saturday night 7th December, there was a great turnout and an awful lot of new faces.
The organisers from the hall were very pleased how the night went and were amazed how busy they were at the bar.
After close examination of the prices I can confirm that an essential range of drinks and snacks was extremely reasonable.
Elite Elton started just after 7pm as there were some late arrivals due to the weather and he did two sets.
He sang all our favourites and as there had been requests for a dance floor it wasn’t in vain as the floor filled up during the second set. (maybe the reasonably priced alcohol had kicked in)
Andrea (Pinks) and her party from her livery yard in Pickwork, certainly knew how to enjoy themselves.
As well as the bar there were teas and coffees served and a Christmas themed raffle these were run by myself and from the proceeds a donation will be made to the Hall.
An update on the total raised will be posted in the next edition as all monies haven’t yet been calculated.

For those who attended, I apologise for my appearance as after setting up I popped home and then 5 minutes later a tree fell over our drive. I was assessing the damage in the rain and didn’t even get a chance to change.

Storm damage clean up in Irnham Storm damage dec 2025

In the light of day I think we all got up on Sunday to assess the damages to our properties. In my case it was the tree over our drive.
The tree which looked lovely was in fact a telegraph pole that the ivy had been growing up for several decades from the size of its vines.
The wind must have had one almighty surge and snapped the pole near the ground.
A can you help out message was sent around the village by Tom Bagge and just after 8.30am on Monday I was welcomed by Tom and his trailer and chain saw.
I would just like to say thank you to Rick and Helen, our neighbours, for organising the clearance so quickly with Tom and on the rest of the clear up team Chris and Dina and of course Hubby Terry.
They had been cutting back for 1.5 hours and it looked almost like they were down to the post and ivy vine. Just needed a friendly tractor driver to take remaining away.
Tom had organised Richard Brewster from Irnham Estates to help with that.  Thank you in advance Richard.

Repairing the village Kissing gate repair

I love the community spirit when it comes to repairs required in the village.
A kissing gate post had rotted through and dropped off its hinges. It was repaired by Chris Miles and Tom Bagge (after helping with the tree removal )  and also Andrew Crow from Bulby.

Thank you again for your help in keeping the village safe.
