Flood at ford in Bulby

Car in riverUnfortunately the most recent downpour mid-February,  caused a bit of excitement in Bulby at the ford.
A group of youngsters driving in a small Vauxhall decided that even though the water on the flood line was high they could make it through.
Always a bit of a laugh splashing through water as we all know but not this time for them.
So after entering the ford the speed of the water and depth pushed the car towards the bridge.
The driver and passengers managed to get out of the car just in time to watch on as the car was carried further in the water and then became wedged under the bridge.
Three very bedraggled young men arrived at Alan Luscombe’s (Xmas tree Alan as I call him ) and were warmed up with tea and blankets.
Parents were called and arrived to collect them and then arrangements for the cars recovery were organised.
Due to water height this  had to be done the next day, with all the excitement no photo sorry of the car in water just on tow truck.
Let this be a lesson to us all  there is a very large dip and uneven surface beneath the water so it’s a lot deeper than you think.
Stay safe and go over the bridge.

Fund raising for Cancer

On Saturday 9th March there appeared on the grass at the front of The Griffin Inn, a pop up stand selling items in aid of Charity.
The idea came from 3 young ladies as they wanted to raise money for Cancer research a great gesture from them all and very thoughtful.
Well done Darcey and Savannah Benton Jones and a close friend who I am sorry I don’t know her name.

Bishop of Lincoln visit to Irnham

Bishop visit 2On Sunday 10th March during the morning service, the Bishop of Lincoln took time to go outside with parishioners of Irnham Church.
Whilst outside the Bishop then blessed and dedicated the new accessible path that had been completed recently by Tom Bagge and helpers.

Jeffrey our local peacock latest update

Jeffrey fan out 1Jeffrey has been visiting lots of places this month, either on his own or with the chickens.
There is still lots of digging work going  on in Blacksmiths garden, which he seems to be enjoying, as he loves the abundance of worms.
When Ben’s son Giles had his birthday recently, Jeffrey was on form and showed off his fan to all the children, maybe a little present from him to Miles.
Since this party Jeffrey has been showing off most times when I see him, it is an amazing sight.
